Exactly, that's the irony- if pregnancy (and I mean getting pregnant) were an equal risk to all genders, think of how the debates around reproductive healthcare would change. We don't debate about viagra, but we do about contraception. I think it would be much different!
if a man was convicted of charges of rape, and the woman got pregnant. It could be her decision to transfer the pregnancy.

This is great because it doesn't have to be another man. What about those couples who are sterile but still want to have a child of their own?
I believe through C-section. If there was a way to create a pseudo uterus in men that could house a pregnancy, that would be the easiest way to deliver, hypothetically.
The argument i've heard that's similar to this is that if someone had a rare disease and only you could save them by bringing them and the IV drip connecting you everywhere, it would be a huge annoyance for you and the government could never ethically force you to do it. So why is can the government force you to keep an unwanted fetus?
^Because that fetus is a person and has a right to life. The fact that an unborn baby is considered an annoyance is sad to me. It's not the baby's fault that he or she is unwanted, is it?
Is it the woman's fault she doesn't want the baby of a man who raped her? Or less dramatically, the baby of a man who cheated on her / broke up with her etc?
Why do you think they take place?
No one makes the decision to have an abortion lightly and if a woman wants one she should be able to have one without justifying why she wants ones. Her body, her choice
^No, it's not a woman's fault. I realize how awful such situations are, and would never judge the woman for not wanting a baby conceived under such circumstances. But I believe that adoption is always the better option. There are so many couples who can't conceive who would love to adopt a newborn baby. Also, there are many inspiring success stories of babies that were conceived under awful circumstances, but because the mother chose life, the baby was born, given up for adoption, and then grew up to make a difference in the world and accomplish inspiring things.
I think the really important phrase you said there is "the mother chose life." The woman had a right to choose. She wasn't shackled for 9 months in an asylum or prison, she wasn't made a convict for the sake of a pregnancy- the woman got to choose. That is what being pro-choice is- believing that there are circumstances that you couldn't understand or force a woman to stay pregnant, and that she is the best person to decide. That it is her choice.
Exactly. I know many people want to adopt babies but a woman should more options than keep the baby or adopt it. What if she knows she'll have physical problems carrying a baby to term?
What if it's someone who just started a great new job and can't take maternity leave to recover after?
What if it's a woman who just plain doesn't want to carry a baby as she understands how god damn HARD it would be to give it away at the end?
Adoption is great for some people but not ALL, hence why women should have the CHOICE.
Good plan, let's just let any idiot play God. And, are you saying that a helpless child, who has nothing to do with the circumstances under which he/she was conceived, does not have a right to live? That, to me, is truly vile. Everyone should get a chance, and allowing flawed, screwed up humans to decide the fate of our young is imbecilic.
Going with your argument that people who want abortions are "idiots" do you really want an idiot taking care of a child?
If you're against "playing God" shouldn't you let everyone make their own choice regarding whether they want to carry a baby to full term?
I understand YOU might not want to have an abortion, but that is YOUR choice and everyone should have the right to decide how they live their own life. If a woman doesn't want a baby she'll find a way to get rid of it, surely it's a better option to abort the fetus in a safe environment by doctors than by a woman attempting to get rid of it herself.
Honestly I think this would be kind of neat. You hear about women deciding to have abortions all the time and the dad gets no say in what happens because "its her body". Poof, now he can carry his child instead!
Ahh, yes. And it's ethical to just terminate the fetus's potential for life, then? We changed our minds, we actually don't want a baby, or better yet, we were so horny that we didn't take the proper precautions. Let's just kill it! Better to murder a helpless creature than to deal with the repercussions of our own actions. Just thinking about abortion makes my stomach hurt and make me feel queasy. It's disgusting and barbaric.
You obviously have never been to an Obgyn. If you knew how uncomfortable getting a procedure was, you would know that no woman who gets an abortion (or a pap smear for that matter) does it for fun or on a whim. No one wakes up after 6 months like "hmm, never mind, I decided no baby for me!" And has an invasive procedure. You have obviously never really thought about it and your immaturity and hatred of women is showing.
