After the Second World War, the remaining Jews (sounds terrible) never put flowers on their dead family/friends tombs, flowers die after a short period of time. No, they put rocks, because rocks last forever, and this way they would always be with them on the grave. I don't have safe source, but I do believe someone(a guide) told us when I was wisiting Auschwitz concentration camp in Germany a couple of years ago (school trip).
