Exactly, I'm a pescatarian but I don't go around say ooh meat is murder etc etc. These things should be your own choice and I hate it when other vegetarians/pescatarians/vegas etc. go around telling people what to eat and trying to make them feel bad
Animals are harmed to get it. To keep producing milk, cows have to get pregnant and have calves quite often. To take all of the milk for themselves, the calf is taken away immediately after being born and the cow is made pregnant again. If the calf is female, she will live the miserable life of a dairy cow. If the calf is male, he will be sent to slaughter. Cows are well known for calling out in agony after their calves are taken. The way we produce eggs is cruel also. We've made cows and chickens produce more milk and eggs than they were ever meant to. It sickens and weakens them. Chickens live around 15 years, but egg laying hens live 1 or 2. Female chicks are kept, male chicks are gassed, suffocated, or ground up alive. Cows are meant to live 40+ years, but dairy cows only live 1-3 years before being slaughtered.
But aren't there places that make sure to treat their animals humanely? I understand boycotting a company because of how they treat the animals, but I think that some animal products have vitamins and stuff our bodies need, and if you can find a company that doesn't mistreat the animals, it would be worth it.
Very few. Most of the eggs and milk in the United States comes from factory farms. And all dairy farms take the calves away, else the calf will drink all the milk. And the calf, if male, is almost always sent to be slaughtered. Honestly, I think killing a creature without necessity is wrong, whether it tastes good or not, but.. there's nothing I can do to stop others from eating them.. There was a woman recently who reported animal cruelty at a dairy farm and she was charged with the same crime. They do their best to silence anyone who tries to keep such things from happening. Also, there are no laws protecting chickens. The only two vitamins you can get from meat that you can't get from plants is a certain form of vitamin D (easily supplemented) and vitamin B12. (Also easily supplemented.) Bacteria creates vitamin B12, not meat, but we wash our plants and cook our meat, so... Besides, a B12 supplement is recommended by most nutritionists, anyway. A lot of people don't get enough.
Ok, well I live in Canada, and my sister actually works at a store that carries organic food. I do agree that many companies are horrible to their animals. Sometimes I almost think it would be better if we all just lived on farms (with internet, of course). Knowing animals personally can make it harder to think about killing them and eating them.
What if I told you that animals are horrible and cruel to animals?
Nature is better off with us around to kill and consume these horrible creatures, before they have an opportunity to kill again.
I eat them all. This fake bill nye twitter said once "'we can eat fish cause that don't have feelings'-Kurt Cobain YO FISH MAY NOT FEEL PAIN BUT THEY DO GOT FEELINGS OK SMH" one of the funniest things I've ever read
I think perhaps you don't grasp the 'veg' part of vegetarian...as in no meat/animal. Fucking dumbass. People like you make it hard for PROPER vegetarians like me. Urghhhh
Guest. You can kindly fuck off. I don't need you to try to rework my brain, especially if you're going to be an ass.
Smoothwakey: then I guess I am a pescetarian. I've been one for about three years. :)
