It's kind of weird seeing all of these Australian stereotypes (I myself am one) yet there are no animals where I live that cause much harm. Except for the spiders.. And the insects.. And the... Nevermind. But Australia is frickin' awesome.
Being an Australian I can assure you unless you're in the bush or going after these ants/spiders you are absolutely fine. Doubt you've ever had a mate come back from Australia and say "oh yeah while I was there I was bitten by the deadliest spider in the world and I was attacked by ants 20 times."
Though I might say that redbacks are everywhere (at least where I live) but they're not as scary as everyone on the Internet seems to think.

I've barely seen any red backs where I live now (Melbourne) but when I used to live up in Queensland there were a lot of them, most of the ones I've seen are tiny and are nowhere as big as they're described. Bull ant bites are painful though.
I live in Queensland now and a nest of bull ants thought it was a good idea to infest my bathroom. And when I lived in Sydney I had this bike I would always ride and one day I feel over and saw underneath was a pregnant redback giving birth.

When I first moved into my house in Queensland the curtains must have been kept open for a long time because when my mum went to close them she must have broken the egg sacs because suddenly little spiders were everywhere. It was absolutely terrifying.
Sorry, the spiders will always be way gnarlier. I can deal with excruciating pain from a nasty assed ant or wasp and not have fuckin daymares about it later.
