You like to read? Tell me what your favorite book is now!
(This isn't really the same thing but I hate when people ask me what my favorite book is because I don't have a favorite; I love them all and I read way too many to remember one that I liked more than the rest.)
I don't even bother trying. I just say that I have no idea because I read too many books. (even though there's no such thing as reading TOO many books).
*as I'm drawing*
Person: oh did you draw that?
Me: no I just magically pulled it out of my ass and I'm dragging a pencil across the paper OF COURSE I DREW IT!
Person: You write? Can I read it?
Me: No, go away.
Person: Please? Can I be a character?
Me: I don't like sharing my work. Please go away.
Person: ...
Person: Can I read it?
So yes, as a singer I know how annoying this can be. However, I'm going to share a little feelsy story with you. Take it or leave it.
I live in a different city than most of my relatives, so of course every time we visited, my parents would want me to perform violin or sing for them. Finally at 17 years old, I'd had enough. We visited my grandpa who was very sick with cancer. The visit was muted, but I knew he was about to start a new kind of treatment. Anyway, as usual my parents asked me to come perform for him at his request. I got mad and stormed out, yelling that I wasn't some trained monkey.

My grandpa kindly said it was fine. We left shortly after, and less than 2 weeks later we got the call that he was dead. His last wish was to have his grandchildren perform at his funeral. I don't believe in god or an afterlife. I wish that I'd obliged him while he could still hear it.
So anyway, I think it's important to share the gifts you have. Any form of art is meant to be shared.
I feel like it still should be your choice though, as a musician myself I get people asking constantly to play something for them but you can lose your love for something if you are forced too often.

Of course you shouldn't feel like you're whoring your gift out. There's a good reason why I quit violin. I do think that having a sense of humility about your gift is important. You never know just how much you can brighten someone's day by sharing something you love.
You do realize that if one person asks, everyone will start asking. Just because we draw, or sing, or write, doesn't mean we have to do every request we get
