I have seen this everywhere but it's totally false! The colors represent every color on every participating nation's flag (with purple, orange, etc counting as blue or yellow). Also, America is not a continent, North America is (and so is South America which isn't even represented here).

The colors are for the flags,and the interlocking rings for the land masses,though no specific ring represent a specific land mass

The Olympic colors are just representing that every single nation's flag partaking in the Olympics has at least one of those colors.
