Dude, it means a lot getting a compliment from a homosexual person of your gender, when you're straight. It's the best feeling ever. I don't know why, it just is. I don't mean to offend anybody, so if this does, I apologize.
It's because if you're straight you're not trying to impress the gay person by pretending to be something you believe they'll like. You're just being yourself. So you know that deep down you must be okay. All you've got to do is stop "spazzing out" when a member of the opposite sex is in the same room and you're good to go.
Some people think it's flattering when a homosexual of the same gender compliments. Some find it disgusting and automatically make a rude comment like "I have a boyfriend/girlfriend" or "I don't swing that way." Which whether you swing that way or not, they can still find you attractive.
