And the other reason it was an egg is eggs are a breakfast food and chicken is a dinner food! I just ate chicken for dinner. It was good. I like chicken.

an egg that was not specifically a chicken egg (if you aregue that this problem does not specifically eefer to chicken eggs than the egg was clearly first in evolution haha)

I thought it was always the chicken, because for the egg to survive, the mother needs to be there to give it warmth. So the egg can't be on its own right?

Well the bird that originally laid the modern chicken egg would have been fairly close to that of the modern chicken and therefore would be able to warm it at least 99% as well as the modern chicken hen.

Actually the chicken came first because the proteins needed to produce the shell of a chicken egg is only produced inside of a mother hen, and no other bird has the same proteins that are required to create the egg shell and genetic material needed for the chick to actually exist.
