It is about showing you have the ability to learn new things, not about the actual knowledge. I fear this just fuels the fire of underachievers by giving them some kind of credence to their thinking. When in reality, and totality, it is just delusion.

I actually see it as a critique of the functionalist system education follows... how it should be based on personal abilities and merit rather then a general measurement where you're one percent short of an A grade and you later remember the answer that would've given you that grade, because of instances like these you're an as less intelligent than an A grader...
