:/ This is why I'm always going to be there for my nephews/sons/brothers/cousins/friends. No. This isn't why. I'm going to do it because it's the right thing to do. "It's when they stop talking that's the problem." - Steve Perry
I applaude you for your determination to change the ways parents and adults alike treat young males. It isnt fair on them and they certainly do not deserve to go through their young life locking their feelings and emotions up simply because 'boys dont cry' trash talk.
It's not often pointed out the pressures that are there on men to fill a very specific role, to have a certain type of behavior. This who idea that showing pain or emotion is "weakness" I believe is damaging to a lot of now adult men who are trying to sort through their own feelings.
This is really becoming a problem with our (11-35) generation, who lived through the snap of meterosexuality and now are going through messages of bullying that are the exact opposite. Girls might like Rpatz and the gang, but "what a fag" and "such a girl" becomes the chant very soon.
That's great, because think how much mental strength they had to go through to remain sensitive. They are constantly told to 'man up,' to be tough- and there are not that many positive rewards for showing sensitivity when they are young. So cheers to sensitive men!
