Yeah, the money gave them the ability to build what they wanted. What they wanted was something to help protect the people (or city in batman's case) that they love. So in the case of Tony Stark he built Iron-man (exoskeleton on steroids). Batman in the older days had alfred build his stuff but apparantly the newest batmen make their own.. They took what they had (or gained) and made great things with it.
Yeah, things most people don't have access to. I'm not disagreeing with you, we should do the best we can with what we have. But better examples could have been people like Bill Gates or Neil Tyson, real people with real problems who overcame and achieved great things.
Banner is a genius as is Stark. Peter Parker has spider bite powers and Bruce Wayne is a rich guy with a a death wish. I am merely a 27 year old from the suburbs with advanced procrastination skills.
Death wish
noun
1.
a desire for someone's death, esp. an unconscious desire for one's own death.
Batman isn't trying to kill himself, he is trying to save the people of Gotham
Fictional characters are reflections of real humans and their emotions. If they weren't then all fictional characters would be souless assholes who don't care about anyone.
Agreed, but why should we compare ourselves to characters who are written to be strong emotionally, or written to grow strong when people around us don't have those abilities?
Because it's not the abilities that give them their emotions it's being human. Just because they are written to grow strong does not mean that its impossible to do in real life. We connect with these characters because we wish to be like them, and being stronger emotionally is one of those things.
