Well... It's logical. If she looks about average, then get a medium. And different places have different sizes that claim to be the same. Like, medium could be large for another maker. (By the way I'm a girl)

Sizes are not the same. Depending on the brand and item of clothing, sizes can vary a lot. And besides, who the *beep* get's mad at their boyfriend for that? Unless she's a small and bought a size XL or something...
