I don't know what's getting to me more, the fact that they have the program, that a kid actually participates in it, or that the cat actually looks interested in the book.

I used to read to my kitten every night before he died.... He'd curl up on my lap and I'd read out loud a chapter of a book I was reading at the time and he'd sit there and paw at the book and meow or purr sometimes.

I'm calling our local shelter on Monday to see if my kids can come read to the cats. This is brilliant! As much as I know that my children are their own little people and will grow up to be and do what they like, I am certainly going to try to brainwash them to like the things that I love most. Two of those things are reading and community service. And this is such a great way to get them to do both under the guise playing with the animals. Yes.
