We weren't even winning in that area and we still raised the flag. Patriotism at it's finest.

The greatest generation. I wish I was around back then instead of now.

Do you really? I mean we say these things but have we really thought about it? They had to deal with war. If you were a man, you would most definitely get drafted, if you were a women you would have to do the work of a man, which was still pretty new at the time, and you would have to worry about your husband/father/brother being at war. And think about it, nothing was as advanced as it is now such as medicine, technology, or anything else. I think we romanticize the idea of the past way to much and we should appreciate what we have now, even though not all of it is great.

Drafted? Naw man, I'd enlist, and I probably will. You do however raise some valid points, so I'll give ya a thumb UP. However, no one can really argue against those men and women being of great quality.

What do you mean THEY had to deal with war? What do you think our generation is dealing with? What do you think our generation has grown up with? Most kids toady are so desensitized because we've been living with war our entire lives.

But there's a difference between us and them. They had a World War to deal with, a huge war. They had to be drafted, which is something we don't have to deal with. Their battle techniques were also not as advanced so there we're more casualties than what we can expect now that our battle techniques deal with technology. Unless you are in the Middle East, or Eastern Europe, war is not something that is in our everyday lives.
