It's co-curricular activity. Same with extracurricular

You can only accept and acknowledge importance when you fully understand something's meaning - therefore asking questions to ensure total understanding is the solution.
I want my kids to focus on at least 2 of the things that make them happy the most. I don't see the point in making them play a sport, and an instrument, and all this other stuff if they don't have fun doing it.
They are called "extra" curricular for a reason. They aren't part of school, they are EXTRA. If the kid enjoys playing a sport, playing an instrument, or some other club, I'm all for it. However, they CHOOSE to be in those things, so they don't get to complain and lump it together with "school" time. Actual school takes up maybe 7 hours, including all the breaks and lunch. Quit trying to make it out to be some 14 hour every day job that you then have to go home and do hours more.

Fun fact: my school day - without any morning or after-school clubs - was 9 and a half hours (door to door). And then ~3 hours of homework a night, and all-homework-weekends. So I literally had no time for clubs.
