This was called the Wow! signal because Jerry R. Ehman circled the signal on the computer printout and wrote the comment "Wow!" on its side. In 2012, on the 35th anniversary of the Wow! signal, Arecibo Observatory beamed a response from humanity, containing 10,000 Twitter messages, in the direction from which the signal originated. Anyone else worried that the first contact with alien lifeforms will be via not just a Tweet but 10,000 Tweets? A lot of humans hate tweets but we're firing off 10,000 of them now? Aliens be like we'll send you a message and what-the-dohickey is this?! What's all this crap you're sending back! Make it stop! We're under attack, repeat, we are under attack! It's a go for launch, I repeat, go for launch. And I'll be like "I 'ain't even mad." because Twitter.
I'm going to like that because it was funny, and you went full crazy. But, aliens are already on Earth. Maybe not on, but in the skies. Watching. Waiting. Stealing our wi-fi.
