Same here. I used to insist on jump punch combo-ing my way across the water, just in case!

Some games have invisible walls..... Jak and Daxter has a friggin Lurker Shark that nabs you before invisible walls can even become a problem

Yuppers. Now that I think about it, the Lurker shark was probably the wall instead of a invisible wall.

That was scary too, but not quite as much.
