Ok, pretty awesome post, but slightly outdated. The current user of the Venom symbiote is Flash Thompson, as Agent Venom. And as for the fan design thing, Venom wasn't even originally meant to be a symbiote. A fan designed a red and black suit for Spidey, he suggested that it be a technologically advanced suit created by Reed Richards for Spidey, Marvel bought the concept and then redesigned it to suit the storyline where the heroes were taken to an alien planet to fight each other. The black and white suit was supposed to be a permanent suit for spidey but fans complained and thus Venom was born.

Carnage is the child of venom, significantly more powerful. Carnage can't be sensed by spidey sense either and isn't as vunerable to sonic waves. He's also capable of using his matter to create solid weapons. But Carnage's spawn, Toxin, is by far the most powerful due to a genetic defect affecting every 1000'th symbiote. He literally has no known limit to his power and almost no weaknesses. He's the hulk of the symbiote world.

He's a relatively unknown symbiote. I guess because he seemed too overpowered. But he's pretty cool, you should check him out, I'll post the marvel wikia link for him here
