Ring around the Rosie references The Plauge. A pocket full of posies (flowers) was used to ward off the smell of the Black Death. Ashes ashes we all fall down (dead). This picture is actually perfect for the song.

The ring around the Rosie was also a mark on the skin than had a ring round it, if someone had the plague.
