I think it's important to still observe this holiday, but many just think of it as a 3 day weekend

Excuse my ignorance but is Memorial day the American version of Remembrance day?

Not exactly. I assume by Remembrance Day you are referring to November 11? If so, in America we call that Veterans Day. Memorial Day is in May, to honor our troops who have fallen.

it is about beaches and fun. bcuz thats what a true soldier would have wanted when he died in battle. a soldier dies with honor when he dies in battle for the sake of freedom. remember them as heroes that once stood among us and rejoice that their honor will ALWAYS live on and because of that the legacy of america will forever remain.
