I blame the delivery person, too. I was once reading in the front room and heard the most softest knock on my door. I looked outside to find a "we missed you" slip. I ran outside, caught the mailman and asked for my package. He admitted that he never put it on his truck and I would have to pick it up in person tomorrow. The dick.
Ya.....this has absolutely nothing to do with the delivery guy. He (or she) doesn't open your package to find out what is inside so they can pick and choose what people have to sign for. The sender picks whether they want to require a signature or not, and the delivery guy just follows orders. If that $1000 box doesn't require a signature, they aren't gonna hold it til they can get one. If that $2 box requires a signature, they will hold it until they get one.
.
Now, if its something like the other guest wrote and the guy just flat out forgot to put the package on the truck, thats something else entirely. Although that sounds kinda iffy unless it was a guaranteed delivery thing. I'd assume they wouldn't even stop at all and just tell you it didn't come in til the next day, rather than risk you catching them and having to explain themselves.
