Same thing is happening to what Ricepudding and I said. It is seriously happening for no reason.

Yeah, I personally think the site would be better without up and down vote buttons.

I don't know...I've only mowed a lawn once in my life when my husband was really busy with work and our landlords at the time would come by and measure our grass and leave harassing notes on our door if it was too long. It's not that I or my husband question my ability or strength--I had actually given birth to our third child just a few days before--it's just the way we divide labor in our home. My husband doesn't do laundry or clean toilets and I don't want him to. I haven't pumped my own gas since I've been married either.

I wonder if I'm being downvoted by women who insist I'd be happier if I had to take out the trash or by the men who are jealous that their girl won't make them a sandwich without bitching about it.
The reason why everyone loses their mind when you say it's a woman's job to cook and clean and nobody cares when you do the same thing to men is because YOU CAN'T BE SEXIST TOWARDS MEN. Men have NEVER been oppressed, so we can make fun of them.

I only partially agree with this. I don't think it's right to be prejudiced against men as a response to sexism. I do agree that sexism by definition relies on one group being marginalized.
look, it's not that (in my opinion). it's not about who's job is who's (whose? anyway, moving on), it's that we have been and still are being held back - in the same ways we've always been. these things have been expected of us since the dawn of time.
You can't say its a problem because its just been expected of women to do certain things since the dawn of time. Just as its "expected" of women to cook and clean the house or whatever other thing you think is expected of you, its expected of men to maintain the yard, keep the house/vehicles/appliances/etc. in working condition, be the "breadwinner" of the family, and so on. All those things have been expected of men "since the dawn of time" too. Thats not sexist, thats preconceived notions of who should do what job.
Not saying that women aren't oppressed to some degree, just saying that shouldn't be your reasoning for it.
What? Since when? I would've thought mowing the lawn fell under taking care of the house, the 'womans responsibility'. The 'mans job' is just to cook and fix shit, isn't it? Eh, shows how much I know about gender roles.

"We seem to have this discussion daily." Fixed that for you.
Jokes about domestic violence are unacceptable. They can be triggering to people who have been put through that awful ordeal. These jokes validate abusers and the first guest is part of the lowest forms of humanity.
The thing about dark humor is you have to use your common sense for when it's appropriate or not. With close friends or family, you're probably not going to hurt or offend anyone. They know you, they know you're joking. On the Internet, most people will never get to know you well enough to detect tone and inflection via text. So when you get all up in arms about people not liking your dark humor, it's because your not taking your audience into consideration. Nothing wrong with dark or twisted humor, but use your common sense about when and where. Or get used to people getting upset. Pick one or the other.
I also wanted to add that you're joke is not dark humor. It's tasteless humor. Dark humor is death and murder and the like. You're fooling no one by trying to defend your misogyny.
Well it sort of is dark humour- hear me out a sec. First of all it wasn't called for or relevant. Domestic violence is a serious and overlooked issue yes that's why it is a sensitive subject. But sometimes dark humour isn't meant to be funny to everyone. Dark humour is the "viewer discretion advised" of comedy. (Your*, btw but that isn't important.)
Not the same guest, but how the hell is murdering a baby "OK" dark humor, and yet smacking a woman is just tasteless? Its a joke, just like rape jokes, abortion jokes, dead baby jokes, child abuse, or whatever other dark humor joke. None are "better" than the other and of course none of them are serious, thats why its called a joke.
.
And as to your close family/friends vs public internet, when somebody in person tells you a joke, you have to respond to it whether you liked it or not. Whether that means an actual laugh, a fake laugh, a blank stare, or telling them you didn't think it was funny, you HAVE to respond to it in some way. On the internet, you don't have to respond. You can just keep right on scrolling if you don't like it and nobody's the wiser. Thats why people like to post dark humor on the internet.
You dot have to post dark humor. You don't have to respond to it. It goes both ways. But to those who get all up in arms about how their off color "joke" wasn't taken well, that's what happens. Yes, people can just move on and not comment. But they also can comment and voice their opinion. If you don't want to hear the responce to what you have to say, post it in a place that doesn't allow comments or retorts.
Not saying that women aren't oppressed to some degree, just saying that shouldn't be your reasoning for it.
