It's the water table, the natural water level that exists underground. The only way it can overflow is during a major storm, but then you'll have bigger things to worry about, like flash floods.

You could thrown bodies of those who defy down there and put a carpet over it so no one would get suspicious, because if you watch murder films they never look under carpets unless they're actually looking for something on the floor. Perfect way to get away with murder.

What's more disturbing- creepy well or creepy well with no lock over it? I'd put locks all over that thing and stack a bunch of bibles on it just in case
