As much as I think leggings are a silly trend, the school has no right to dictate what she can or can't wear as long as it isn't skimpy or offensive

It's sometimes not about being skimpy or offensive but simply following the school's basic dress code. Because sure as eggs is eggs some of those kids are going to want employment with employers who have their own dress codes. It's better to learn this in a school than later down the track find their employment terminated and they can no longer pay the rent just because they wanted to wear leggings. Maybe she'll take career steps that ensures she doesn't end up in a job that has a dress code and again, this is the place to learn that.

True, but in college there is no dress code. And i. Don't think there are many college grads that lose their jobs cause they don't know that leggings are inappropriate.

I work with a bunch of people in their 50 s I can barely read their writing. So I always appreciate good penmanship.

Well not all are in the 50 s but most. And 50 isn't really that old RDJ is in his 50 s. My sister is 30 her handwriting is so grade school you'd think she was 12.

She has a serious point. She wants an education, but is denied that because of an outfit. How silly.

One time my English teacher started lecturing this girl in my class about her "inappropriate" clothing choices. Apparently wearing a white dress in October is inappropriate.

School dress codes do tend to be a bit ridiculous at times, the fingertip length shorts thing always drove me nuts since arm length shouldn't dictate pant length. Leggings are a tricky thing though, as they do tend to be at least a bit transparent. If you wear them with a shortish shirt you're apt to be showing your underpants, which is never appropriate, least of all at school. That said, when worn properly they shouldn't be banned. That's just my 2 cents though.
