I once played a violin piece for school orchestra
(third violin, the lowest of the low)
And the entire second page was semibreve tied open d's.
THE ENTIRE PAGE.
I couldn't be stuffed counting out the entire page of Ds, and so in rehearsals (it was a really big orchestra) I just quietly played my own awesome solo thing that I made up. I never learnt the counting, and so at the biggest performance of the year, I thought I was screwed, and then REALLY screwed because the CONDUCTOR who always picked on me because I was small and the youngest player in the whole thing, came and sat next to me. I basically decided I wasn't even going to TRY and count it out, and so I just played what I knew. I had the best time of my life, a whole page of my own solo with only me to hear it. Afterwards I saw him coming up to me and thought that that was the end. He said,
"Did you make that up?"
And I whispered
"Um... yes..."
and he said,
"It was really good."
And then walked off.
Yah, school orchestra. I've been playing violin since the age of four, and school only went to year seven (a primary school), so in year 4 I was in the senior orchestra...
There once was a dynamic marking that said, "Aggressively" and all I saw was 30 bars of rest... At the time I thought to myself, "Do they want me to rest 'aggressively'?"
Not meaning to put you down or anything, but a guest mentioned that before. It's a treble clef (in the music) not a bass clef. It's also not necessarily violin music, just an instrument that only utilises the treble. -A-
On a similar note - if there is such thing as a repost, can there be such thing as a re comment? This seems to happen regularly irl, and is starting to here, which I hope doesn't happen too often.
Have a nice day. ~
