They might have been broke. That's why she said books are a waste of money, never mind the pettiness of that guy breaking up with her just because he disagreed with her opinion.

If books are important to this guy, I understand him. I always day couple should share interests, and not only the little ones.

1.there's always money for a book 2. If she does like books but they are too poor she could of asked why don't they see if it is at the library. 3.if she actually did like books she wouldn't of been whining about how "books are a waste of money" 4.I would have broke up with her also for hating books.

Yeah but also he shouldn't break up with her because she doesn't like books, but the fact that she's complaining about something he loves.
