Sometimes we choose not to see

I worry that I'm giving them my money just so they can buy more cigarettes, even though i know there are many homeless people who would use the money people give them wisely

We once had a representative from a homeless charity come and speak to us, and his advice was definitely to NOT give them money (as they would most likely spend it unwisely, such as to continue substance abuse, etc.). Instead, he offered the alternative of using the money you would've given them to buy them a sandwich or muffin instead, and/or a cold drink (never a hot one, like a coffee or tea, in case the homeless in question is unpredictable and throws it back at you).

I know that was what I was thinking. Like what are they supposed to do? Randomly look down from the window?

The table is blocking their view too.
