As a metal fan this makes me sad. You can like it (that's none of my business), but I wouldn't call it metal.

Well, the creator said he wanted to mix his two favourite genres ( pop and metal ) so it's not metal, but more of a sub category of it. And music evolves, just as everything does, and becomes different. And like plenty of things the old will still be there for you to enjoy.
