The crowd divides in two halfs and then smashes against the other half.
Normally it's safe, since you can just get out if you want to, and it's not like you punch eachother, just push at the song rythm. And also it's normal to partially stop it if someone falls to the ground or gets in a vulnerable position (like this girl). But it is very dangerous if someone squishy is in the middle of that chaos.. And even more if they all are going for you like in this case.
I've always had the most fun in a metal crowd. Went to a few shows of other bands and wanted to stab a kid in the eye. I havent been to a metal show in so long. I've met the most awesome people in those crowds.

My first warped tour blackflag stopped their show to point out some neo Nazis asks the crowd what we thought of nazis everyone threw up the middle fingers chanted fuck you and security forced them out
no offence to metalheads at all but it was kinda also a metalhead that pulled your top down and pushed you into the wall of death, there are good people and bad people out there, no matter what music you like, or anything else for that matter, find the good, dont generalise
