While slavery was no small issue, it wasn't as widespread as people seem to believe, and Uncle Toms were far and few between.
I personally think that they'd be pissed off we didn't get off our asses and fight back when the Patriot act became a thing, and even more enraged that nearly half the nation's voting population is in support of people who want to restrict or rewrite the rights that they fought for.

Not to be rude but where did you hear that from? Ever since the 13 colonies were established the largest import was slave labour. Closely following were manufactured goods from Britain. In many states and places blacks who served the military were offered freedom for there service. Both the British and Colonies practiced this but it was less common for the patriots.
The founding fathers didn't want slavery but they new they couldn't end it yet

In all reality the founding fathers weren't against slavery. Many owned slaves themselves. To many including the government blacks weren't considered people. They were considered property until the 1800's when only for every 3 slaves counted as 1 person in the census.
