They are alive in the same way a kidney is alive, only less so, they don't even have a nervous system to experience anything remotely resembling pain. What does it matter if one small plant dies?
And FYI, if u make a Venus fly trap close it's mouth without food, it wastes energy doing so and gains nothing because there was never any food and so it dies.

It's a tiny little plant, weighing less than a pound, once it dies it's biomass is absorbed into the environment, nothing is lost. Get over it already.
