Bit more complex than that.
America and Soviet also went around trying to turn each others friends (Korea, Vietnam, Panama, Costa Rica, etc.) against them, and then the both of them started waving around knives and guns.
Things got real screwed up when Soviet gave Cuba a few grenades and he started flashing them near America's house.
They all sat down and talked through that, but when America's uncle, Kennedy, got shot. Well, it was never confirmed but America was pretty convinced that it was done by Soviet's cousins, KGB and Spetsnaz.
There was a really big standoff where America and Soviet kept on one-upping each other.
Eventually Soviet just lost her stuff and moved away. Her younger siblings, Russia and Ukraine and all of them have been fighting each other and going through hard times, and Soviets old freinds China, Cuba, Vietnam, and North Korea have been managing; but America still has trouble sleeping at night without having a gun nearby. True peace is still a ways off.
There has never been a truly communist nation. Only nations run by the communist party. Communism strives from the philosopher Karl Marx and Marxism which turned into Marxist-leninism. Marxism is the idea that everyone is equal and everyone must work toward the betterment of society but no government has power over the people. Marx believed centralized government was the root of all evil. Communist parties claimed no social structure and everyone to be equal but in all reality USSR had a social structure and centralized government. The USSR (United Soviet Socialist Republic) was a socialist nation rather than Communist.
