most of the time the supervisors thinks the compliment is directed at them, for doing a good job of managing the staff

You should tell the manager the employee's name it could help out on that.

Yea. We want to know who you spoke too. It's important. We generally only hear the bad and that can be for many reasons. I generally judge my employees for the lack of complaints I get. No complaints = good news. Compliments = great news!

This is very true! Nothing makes me happier at work than faith in humanity restored. (Customer supervisor for a call center)
