Having a friend just for sex is fine it's great but usually (not always) someone has deeper feelings and if you have the interest in dating someone who just wants sex and you agree to it you're just hurting yourself if they don't want you now they're never going too. I hate to say it but it's just being on the hook for someone. While you're waiting time with someone who doesn't appreciate you someone who would is out there. Sometimes the best friend you're going to have is yourself and sometimes the best friend thing to do is hurt some feelings by seeing the truth.

I'm in a different kind of friendzone. I can/do have sex with my buddy, but it won't ever lead to a *relationship*...that's what friend zoned means to me, that there won't ever be an actual relationship with said person, the sex part isn't as important...so you may be missing the point. Or maybe all you want is sex, and if that's the case that's fine too.

Yep that's a f*ckbuddy. Definitely. I think if you ever wanted more in that situation it would hurt too and maybe hurt even more.

Well he's definitely not a fuck buddy...because I don't hangout with him to have sex, it just happens sometimes. I guess friends with benefits works...but if the "benefits" were to disappear I'd still very much be friends with him. Regardless its still always going to be stuck as "friends" which is a bit disappointing.

But boredatwork also has point that you could be everything that person wants, but they don't look at you and think that you could possibly be in a relationship. It's just that in their situation, the other person has taken the level up to the point of sexually relating to boredatwork, but still not wanting to relate to him/her in a relationship way. Fuck buddies are when all people involved just want sex. The situation is more complex when one wants sex and the other wants a relationship.
