Poisonous. Venom is usually associated with a bite.

Yes there is, fellow guest! The lesser-known snake genus, Rhabdophis. I would supply a wiki link, but it so appears I cannot, so I suggest you google the word to find out more info on this lovely variety, should you happen to be interested.
