Are you speaking of ethnicity or nationality? There's no real American ethnicity, so if you're asking every East-Asian looking fellow if they are from China, you might be in for some offended people.
Hmmm... being a victim of racism is caused by what you ARE, being called a racist usually starts by something you do or say. Not sure if this cartoon makes a lot of sense, as iot might well be the whining of someone who just does not think about what he/she says in the first place.

It's like one time, at the mall, I said "Oh! I Like that girl's bag!" When my friend asked which girl, I said the black girl. I was immediately accused of being racist. There's a difference between knowing the person's ethnicity or background, and thinking you're better than them because of it.
You can't call people black or Asian, so we call the African American and Asian American, then it's ok. So apperantly adding the word American makes it acceptable.
I think it's just talking about people making an assumption you're racist because of what color you are. A lot of African american people in my area inherently dislike white people because they automatically assume they don't like black people.
This is sadly true, and I'm guilty of it. I get uncomfortable when I go to predominately white areas in the South, and it's not fair to stereotype all people because of a few bad apples.
So this "black" girl did not have ANY other distinctive features then? Nomesayin?

Yes she did, the colour of her skin. Identifying a person by skin colour is the same as identifying them by hair colour, or by built or height. It's just another characteristic. Saying "the black girl over there" is simply easier than saying "the medium height, skinny girl with brown hair wearing a blue jean and yellow tank top."
I live in a country full of illiterate idiots who think women are unholy, and anyone who listens to music is going to hell, so I know what you mean. Good luck dealing with such a mindset.
Definition of racism is using generalization to judge or treat a race as inferior. I'm tired of people confusing generalization with
racism. The other day i made a comment how black/African Americans have better skin usually and they get wrinkles and grey hair later on compared to white people. I was accused of being racist! !!!
