In terms of cost this is true. In terms of food production it is not. Sorry to break the news to you but you have to consider more than cost in terms of dollars. Ramping up food production to that scale would drain most natural sources of clean water and/or cause irreparable damage to the soil.

Yes, it is. Even if we end hunger in this country, with the money saved from the Iraq war, we could help ensure a healthy and more productive workforce. This would, in turn, lead to more jobs, better education, and a myriad of other things. Just because it's not as flash doesn't mean it's less important.
