Yes, there's this small switch that presses against the door to turn it off to save energy

Do we have any empirical evidence? Did anybody sit in there watching the lightbulb actually going off and then on?

I did, once...it took a lot of patience and concentration :/
Anyway, the switch is usually bu the hinges of the door, if you've got the time go take a look
