The reason they changed the name is because in the UK, philosopher is synonymous with sorcerer, but in America it isn't :) that's all.

No it isn't... Philosopher and sorcerer have the same non-synonymous meanings in the UK as they do everywhere else.

This is so stupid the first book they changed the word philosopher to soccerer. The adapted titles vary immenly from their originals.
