Also there was a post like this before that said if you kill the alpha male in a pride, most of the kids will be his. So when a new male comes in to take over, he will kill all the cubs in order to start his own bloodline.
I was on a safari in Kenya some time ago too. These things are lazy as hell. The only time I saw a lion move was when we saw these two lions (male and female) sleeping. But then they woke up and just began to mate. Yes, it was kind of awkward.
Anyway, these things are way more chilled out than we think they are
Agree that killing a lion is cowardly.
Agree that I can't see the enjoyment of doing that.
But, can't help but notice:
1. Amount of money given by that hunter to the wildlife preserve: Thousands
Amount of money given to the wildlife preserve by all the angry posters: None
2. Amount of meat given to locals by that hunter: One lion's worth
Amount of meat given by all the angry posters: None
I agree. Since this post happened there have been many articles out on the decline of animal wellbeing and health since this story due to the lack of benefits that those hunters once brought.
Get out of the truck.....walk among your little kitties. Sleep in a bush camp or village when they are up and hunting. They lay around in the heat of the day because it's too hot to do anything else. Come visit our "teddy bears". 1000lbs teddy bears..and that average.
Cowards often get its courage, out of treachery. Killing an innocent lion, with the help of a shot gun...that too from the confines of a vehicle, is an act of ghastly crime...infested with violence that emanates from sadism, that develops inside the shallow mindset of a coward.
I'll bet you're the type of person who boils over with anger when you meet a person who doesnt "keep an open mind" when their beliefs differ from your own.
.
And i'll also bet you've never spent any amount of time talking with anyone that hunts.
.
Irony makes me smile.
.
Now i know you're going to tell me that your second uncle mike shot a squirrel with a BBgun once 25 years ago but thats not what im talking about and you know it.
They claim that it's better to kill the animals before they die from starvation. Like more would die of starvation, but when we kill some the others will have enough to eat. I also read, about lions, that they try to kill the old, male lions who can't reproduce anymore so a new lion can take over. I personally think nature could handle itself pretty well before humans came around. And also: You do not go to Africa and start killing children because you know - less children will die from starvation if we kill some.
Aristotle: "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without excepting it." Its easy to emotionally feel for an animal, particularly a beautiful lion. Its lazy to read the first article, eccept that its POV is the only/"right"one and promote its message without thinking it through. It's nieve to think that the killing of animals hasn't been an integral part of human existence and evolution. And Its a hypocrisy to shame people for not accepting homosexuality or a culture thats different than their own at the same time you're promoting hate of a South African hunting culture you dont understand.
I don't have a problem with hunting, but i do have a problem with killing something just to kill it. It's what you do with the dead animal afterwards that makes the difference. Is the meat and pelt going to be used? Or do you just want to say you killed a big animal, and then leave it to rot?
While over population/wasting disease of animals can lead to a lot of problems, and can actually lead to under population of other animals and unbalance an areas ecology, I've never heard of lions being over populated. Or of Americans using a lion as anything other then a trophy. I can understand if they were letting people pay a ton to shoot an older lion, and then used its body to feed other carnivorous animals, especially if it helped keep the areas wildlife balanced.
I hadn't, I was giving my opinion to the questions and opinions that were given after, so I wasn't really responding directly to bamboo gamer. Obviously I should have first. I'm glad that particular reserve does that, as I have a friend who's parents went on an African hunting trip where the animals bodies were not used for anything other then a rug, a mounted head, and taking the horns of animals they shot. My point was that there is a difference in hunting and being responsible, and just killing to kill. I would actually doubt that South Africans would consider that kind of waste at all compatible with their hunting culture.
While I don't condone just skinning an animal and leaving the body, technically all of the animal DOES get used, just not by humans. Other large carnivores will eat it (bear/lion) then smaller scavenger carnivores (coyotes/hyenas) and then birds and smaller animals and bugs
It's just an animal you retards. If I had a gun in that situation I would totally kill a lion whether I had originally intended to or not. It would be awesome to have a lion head on my wall.
get informed people. She didn't kill the lion. They dont let anyone legally hunt lions anymore. They use traquilizer darts to sedate the lions and not kill them. he's fucking sleeping

I really don't understand how people can kill a beautiful animal like this and not feel bad.
