Can we calm down about this?!?! I don't mean this isn't an issue, but seriously?? All this hating on feminists? I'm sure this makes the feminists of the world who don't care what others wear feel just great! Oh wait, never mind, there's that sick feeling I get whenever I see something bashing feminists. Looks like you got what you wanted, bringing down kind people who did nothing wrong.
He landed a shuttle on a comet then got shouted at by feminists because he wore a shirt with lots of women in bakini's and stufd like that on it (which was made by a female friend) during on interview
You guys who down voted me are telling me sexism is over? WOW! I didn't know that! So it's safe for me, as a woman, to walk through the parking lot at night without gripping my keys to protect myself? And if I DO get assaulted, which one in four women will, he police won't tell me I as asking for it and dismiss me? You mean I can pay the same for a razor as a man and not worry about the pink tax? People will take my complaints seriously without asking if I'm on my period? My opinion MATTERS now? That is so good to hear!
Men have the highest suicide rate, murderd rate, assaulted rate (not sexually but this interprets that we too, have to grip out keys) we are expected to be stronger, we cannot hit a woman if they hit us. Anymore questions?
First off, wage gap is extinct in America, if it does exist it is because we choose diff. jobs than you. Second, I don't make up someone being raped, that's not something to mess around about. Third, everyone gets discriminated against, not just women, when they proposed boycotting ghost blisters three, that was just being an ass hole, everyone is one don't act like you are not. Fourth, the pink tax? Never heard of it, I'm not saying it's not real or was, but please send a link for it. Fifth, don't be ashamed of who you are, I'm not and you shouldn't either. Sixth the boss is sexiest, leaving it at that.
1. Do you have a citation for that 1-in-4-women-who-walk-across-a-parking-lot-will-get-assaulted claim?
2. You are exaggerating the amount of police who will dismiss an obvious assault.
3. Women's razors are more expensive because the polymers used in the larger head and on the grip so it doesn't slip in the shower are more expensive to produce. If this doesn't matter to you, use men's razors.
4. People will generally take your complaints seriously if you make an attempt not to act hysterical. This is statistically harder for women to do.
5. Your opinion likely doesn't matter because you're not very smart. At least that's what I gather from you post.
I just read all these comments... My conclusion: no one knows how to mind their decent business, everyone is procupied with things that dont concern them, and every one is acting like femenism is a world wide epidemic with out a cure... Main problem: Lack of respect for thy neighbor.
While I think that people can wear whatever the hell they want for an occasion like that it would have been common courtesy to wear something a little more formal
so a guy who just had the biggest achievement of his life, hasn't shown any signs of being sexist and oppressive, deserves to be punished for wearing a shirt made for him by his FEMALE friend?
Feminism is about equal equality for all people. Look at the definition. And whoever said wage gap is fiction you do some research. If people didn't just focus on the popular beliefs and did their research these miss understandings wouldn't exist. Heres a link bcf.usc.edu/~ridder/Lnotes/Undeconometrics/Transparanten/Wagedecomp.pdf if you don't want to read it all go to page 702 and look at the conclusions and if you don't believe this there are countless others to support the wage gap between men and female.
The wage gap is a result of women doing less/cheaper work than men. Women take far more maternity leave than men take paternity leave, men have a higher tendency to work over time and/or weekends, men have a higher tendency to take career paths with higher earning potential like sciences and trades, were women have a higher tendency to take less lucrative paths like the liberal arts, and men are much more likely to take jobs that pay more because they are hazardous. These and other factors like these are the reason men make more money than women, not discrimination between genders.
There's an episode with John Oliver (under wage gap, or something similar) where he goes over this. Even women working as doctors lawyers, and CEOs are paid significantly less than the guys.

If you were to turn on the tv, take a history class, read a book, you would see a pattern of white males more consistently filling up roles of power and domination. Guys see this and feel pressured to be the strong, dominating figure; women and people of color see that they have no place in this, and so are less eager to fill those roles. Although some try to fight against the stereotype, most feel as though they are inadequate and drop out.

Even if you think that I'm making this up, at least try to see my points.
I've seen that episode of Last Week Tonight (and just watched the segment again on youtube). Nowhere in that segment does he (or anyone) provide evidence that women are payed less than men for the same specific job. He also just jokes about the evidence supplied by the opposing view and skips past them to make his point. In general, it's not a good idea to reference comedy shows for this stuff. The one interesting thing in the segment was that study where professors were given identical resumes, one labeled John and the other Jennifer and John was preferred, however I'm willing to guess the sample size was quite tiny, so I would hesitate to draw any solid conclusions from it.
As to your second paragraph, there's nothing wrong with men seeing men in power and wanting to follow suite, so the problem seems to be the mindset of the women. To fill a role of power and/or domination, you have to be powerful and/or dominant. (con't)

Actually in my sociology, anthropology and psychology class we are mainly focusing on the wage gap right now. And as a feminist I was very offended to hear about it as well as learn about it. However we studied through all three positions, (sociology, anthropology and psychology) and found that the wage gap is due to women being more family focused, more likely to take time off work for recitals, game's etc. As well as maternity. When we looked at men it was seen they were most likely to miss family activities, to go to work. To take overtime etc. No matter what job or social status.
So either women and people of color are right and have no place in those roles, in which case there actually isn't a problem, or they're wrong and simply need a better mindset. Neither of those scenarios are discriminatory against women or people of color. As to those who feel inadequate, either they're right and should quit, or they're wrong and should have toughed it out.
Either way, the wage gap of 80 some odd cents on the dollar we hear about definitely doesn't take into account all those factors I listed in my first post, so it's obvious that at least a portion of that gap is not caused by discrimination. I suppose what tends to get stuck in my craw is that the number doesn't represent how big the problem is, but people keep assuming it does.
To the guest replying to my comment as to whether my reference was to be dismissed because of the fact that it is a comedy. Yes, it is. But it is done with a great deal of research, and is not done only to make us laugh. From the episode with the beauty pageant, you can see the amount of official documents they had to go through, and with their panel on the death penalty, it was far more serious than any of their shows. I get the feel as if it is the humor that is brought in only to make the news more palatable.

And addressing the phychology studies, there have also been the great debates between nature and nurture. Sure nature might cause us to have some more family-based characteristics, but the way that we are raised could have the same, if not greater impact on how we act. Just because men act one way and women another does not mean that they weren't raised that way.

That's why there'd still a wage gap, moron
