Healthy is beautiful. I've been on both extreme ends (obese and anorexic) and the best thing you can do is to fight off those internal demons that tell you you're not beautiful.
Okay, here's the thing: there are many different body types. Some people are naturally thin, others are curvy. However, there is a point where curvy becomes fat and that is not healthy. On the other hand, there is a point that is too skinny, and that is unhealthy.
Big is not beautiful, curvy is. And skinny is beautiful too. Basically, beauty is being whatever weight that is healthy for your body type.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Since childhood, we're bombarded by unrealistic body images; girls have Barbie and boys have super-heroes. If you think how your weight is an issue, ask yourself these questions:
1. Are you satisfied with how your body works?
2. Is the person you're having sex with okay with the way you look?
If you answer yes to both questions, your weight is not an issue, but rather how you've been programmed to feel ashamed due to peer pressure and media influence. Fuck the gym police. Anyone who waits in line to lay down on a damp piece of gym equipment that a stranger just sweated on needs a re-think on just what the hell they're doing with their life.
I have to disagree with that because being fat isn't healthy. There is a huge difference between a curvy body type and straight up fat. Being overweight isn't healthy and I think that it is wrong to encourage people that it is okay to be 100 (or more) pounds overweight. However, I do believe that we should encourage people to be a healthy weight (which varies based on body type).
Why wait in line to go to the gym? Hmm, I don't know, maybe because exercise is healthy! You don't just exercise to be thin (or buff) but to be healthier and to feel healthier.
I was never thought of Barbie as some body model. I was playing with her all my childhood and I never had thouhts like "And when I grow up, I should look like her, or I am weird". Now, when I'm bit older, I don't think it's bad for chidren too. There are lots of things bad for children, but even they have common sense. They know they don't have superpowers, but they like to believe they can have and when they grow up they know, they don't have them, if they have common sense. Everything can be dangerous, but everything IS damgerous only when you are stupid enough.
or you can eat healthier and exercise like everyone else and you will automatically feel better about yourself...you've got to work at it...not just feel lousy all the time
Not everyone has it that easy, to some it's not a matter of eating healty and exercise regularly, but also a hormonal problem, and those are a lot more complicated, even with the right medication.
I agree. In health education courses, they teach us that losing weight is much more complicated than calories in, calories out. Some people are even born obese. We can't just blame them for being lazy cause there are more factors.

Some of you FSers can be way too PC.
