I don't know why but I never say thank you. I just smile awkwardly at the person as I pass.

If they don't respond I just say"I am Groot!" And then I laugh at myself awkwardly as I walk away.

I always say 'you're welcome' loudly. A simple 'thank you' is polite and costs nothing.

If they do that, i automatically am granted one try to trip them up.
