Yes, but think of it this way. Growing up I hardly had any presents. I wasn't poor, just not financially stable. So my parents always were working, thus leaving me no time to play with them. So this isn't really a great excuse.
I don't think that introduce some magic to a kid's world is that bad. My father was always telling me stories about dragons, witches, ghosts and elfs. Everything had a story and everything was either enchanted or misterious.
I loved his stories, and I thank him for his "lies". It was an amazing time in my life and I have never had any problem accepting reality.
So, why not?
I grew up like that too, and I don't resent my parents. I loved it too, I just prefer truth. I think it's in our best interests to respect truth more than we enjoy manipulating it.
You can't tell your kid the truth but just make sure your kid doesn't ruin it for other kids. That's how my little sister was ruined and let's say I taught the kid a lesson
Agreed. It was fun believing (in my case baby jesus) gave me a present. I remember my mom sat me down and told me : "ok baby jesus is really your dad. I'm telling you because you want Rollerblades and we have to see if they fit" lol. I took it surprisingly well and that's it I wasnt traumatized
Lol that's funny. I found out because my parents are in the choir so they sing at midnight mass so they always put gifts under the tree after mass and well I had to pee while they were doing so and it all went down hill lol
Actually thats pretty much outdated. Think of all the working poor who need a couple jobs to make ends meet. They have siginifantly less time to spend with their kids than many rich folks do PLUS they cannot afford the expensive presents.
