True, Katniss was described as being thin due to malnourishement. However, the fact remains that many young girls won't think about that. They won't consider the characters or the situation (especially those who didn't read the books) and for those who see Katniss (and Jennifer Lawence) as a role model it will most definitely affect their self-esteem. They will think that she is thin and beautiful and want to be like her, even if that weight is unhealthy for their body type. So, yeah, congradulations to you Jennifer for realizing this and speaking up for what you believe in.
(P.S not saying that all girls would do this, but a lot would.)
But she goes hunting a lot so she would be fit. Plus the hunting still makes her better fed than the rest of District 12. I think it's perfectly okay and a great decision she made to stop girls from looking up to the wrong things. She's a role model now and at least she has the sense to act like that
But either way Jennifer Lawrence looks like a Victoria's Secret model. She looks stunning, so unless she looked just a quarter of what she is right now, her saying this would make more sense.
But she's a healthy body weight and I think that's the point! She may be beautiful, but she's not unnaturally thin. Have you seen Victoria's Secret models? They are all one body type; skin and bones. Jen is not skin and bones.
I know, but imagine Jennifer was uglier or fatter or just worse looking. She would be not even saying something like this. And people would not be agreeing with her either.
Alright, I would agree with this in any other situation, but in this case her character is literally actually starving. She would be fit, out of necessity but Jesus no, not healthy
