Question to American society: As a whole, why is virginity viewed negatively? I am a 26 year old, caucasian male... Moderately attractive, attending college part time, looking for a better job... I have friends, hobbies, interests, etc, and yet... I am a virgin. To ask the opposite question: why is people's gross (large amount of) sexual experience viewed as a positive? If it were true, I think it'd be great if she was a virgin.
It´s not only about American society. I´m from Europe and people were making fun from me, because I was virgin... I was fucking 15 years old, and they were doing this since their 14th birthday and I wasn´t going to do something about it, only because they were sluts. But noone bat an eye, on how they acted, but everyone thought I am not normal. (It´s legal since 15, in there)
What do you mean by legal?? Legal to have sex with another person of your age or older??? It is never legal for an adult to have sex with a 15-year-old nowhere in the world
You have a point, Hexy, thanks for notice. :-) Well, with legal I mean completely legal, without restrictions. Actually it´s like this in lots of states, I have weird feeling that somewhere in Africa you are completely adult since you´re 12 or 13 years old, but I don´t want to lie, because I am not sure... But you would know these things if you paid attention in school.
Parts of Africa??? Among some sub-Saharan people maybe but it does not seem that you are from that place. I know a lot about that but I don't think in western countries or even Asian countries this is a norm. Even in modern Greece it isn't a norm or maybe it is... PS I don't believe we are talking about local people of the Amazon or deep Africa. Where are you from????
OK, I checked everything about legal age of consent in Europe and there are different countries regarding that. However, nearly all laws in those countries indicate that the age difference should not be more than three years and it should not start with a computer communication (!!!!). The countries where the age of consent is 15 include: Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Greece, Iceland, Monaco, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden. Moreover the age of consent in Spain is 13 years. However, the majority of countries have the age of consent of 16 years. I am not sure how this affects the general public of these countries but I think these rules are trying to promote something which I don't currently know. It was a good conversation, thanks. I learned a lot.
PS: You can now say in which one of the above-mentioned countries you reside. I think the reason behind not saying is now mute.
Should not be more than three years, not must be. But honestly, I personally don´t know any 15 - 18 years old girl, who has relationship with guy more than 10 years older, than her (Or boy, who has relationship with so much older woman). The oldest I know is probably 16 years old girl in relationship with 24 years old guy. But it was relationship, she wasn´t only bitching around, neither was he. I actually had no idea, that they have so loose laws in Spain about these things, that´s new for me. You´re welcome, I learnt some new things too.
On the positive side, I think we found out who is interested in meeting up with a 15 y.o...
hint: it would be the one who investigated which countries allow that sort of interaction. Can we all collectively say, 'ewww'?
I think the reason for not confirming this doscovery is now MOOT (not mute, you silly cave person).
On the positive side, I think that we found out it is okay to have a relationship with a person of that age, on the other hand you should know that I am in a serious relationship and I am not living in Europe. You all collectively should respect the law and don't judge people.
PS: English is not my first language so sometimes I may have some mistakes. Thank you for the mute/moot point. I am not currently living in a cave and I don't believe that anybody is.
PPS: That's not a good thing to say!!! I refer you to your own comment: My point exactly...except that the people of India choose their leaders to enact laws in their best, common interest. That they have not places them in the wrong.
To show that I am a curious person let me give you some examples of actual usage of mute instead of moot by some respectable sources which are of course wrong but nobody told them that they were cave people:
Manager Joe Maddon brought in left fielder Russ Canzler as an extra infielder to hold the Gload at third, but the left-handed-hitting Naughton lined to right to make it a mute point. [American Chronicle]
If the NDC plans not to use violence in 2012, this whole issue becomes a mute point. [Ghana Web]
Although this could be a mute point since the downtown group will have plenty of time to catch up. [NFL]
