Not me because I think selfies are dumb and a waste of time, just spend time with friends and create memories instead of making forgotten photos. But this is just my opinion.

My 69 year old grandma loves seeing pictures from her past. You can create memories and have pictures to go along with them, unless you're incapable of associating them with vanity

Back then it was fine because people back then would take what around1-5 pictures while the event is still going on. Nowadays it's "ok everyone pose real quickly so I can take a good picture then post it on Facebook so everyone can see what a good time we are having!" Every five minutes or so, which is not making memories to look back on, they are artificially made photographs for show.
