My aunt has two kids and she doesn't let them have technology until they turn ten. They can use a computer but they can't own one or own an iPad, iPod, ect. until they turn ten. I think it's not a bad idea..
seriously, like every parent i know doesnt give their kid their own device until the become like 9 or 10

My daughter is eight and she plays minecraft. Loves to read and play with her dolls, draw, sew, jumps on the trampoline she also plays super smash bros has a 3ds its all about moderation. I do think there's too young of an age for electronics but its about the parenting and monitoring the time spent with electronics.
You can control how long your kids are on devices. Take them away or don't buy them in general. It's not the kids faults like everyone makes them out to be. If parents didn't buy them tablets they would be playing with stuffed animals and playing outside. If you don't like what the generation is becoming it isn't the kids fault. It's the adults. And it isn't like this with all little kids either. I have a 9 year old sister and 7 year old brother. They both own tablets and leapsters. They beg my parents to take them on walks and let them play outside. And they're hardly on their tablets. It's dependent on the parents if the kid acts like this or not.
Dang. I never thought of it this way. This makes me wanna go play outside more and enjoy crap. But then there's school, and the internet holding me back, as well as every teenager of this century
Honestly, it's a preference choice and sometimes kids are better at stuff on the computer. I literally have been on the internet since I was 5, and that didn't stop me from riding around town on my bike, playing soccer, going to the park, swimming in the summer, reading a book, and even just sitting down with my family to talk. My family didn't even have to force or persuade me to do any of that.
I preferred to do certain things over other things. One day, I was on the internet for 8 hours and the next i was outside for 8 hours.
People always shit on technology and the internet like its there fault that kids don't want to do other hobbies that aren't online, but some hobbies on tech and more preferable to them because it clicks with them better. I can't draw for shit i hate it, but when I'm on my computer i can actually Photoshop averagely and enjoy it. The interesting thing is before technology became big, people used to blame books for not being motivated to go outside.
