My teacher is the opposite and loves when we find our think new ways to solve things even if it's more complicated.

I also hate it when they give us a small amount of space but make us write down every step when we could have done it in our heads.

Common core dictates that now. This is what happens when you trust gov't to run every aspect of your lives.
