Does IKEA actually name their stuff after real Swedish words, or do they just close their eyes and type something on a computer and use whatever comes up? It's been bugging me for ages.
I took to terms in a Deutsch class and it does it means to go,travel, going, e.t.c. and just because Google translate doesn't bring up anything doesn't mean it isnt in the language.
German is my native language, "fart" doesn't exist in German. "Fahrt" exists (and the verb "fahren").
Although it would be correct to use "Fahrt" as a synonyme for "Speed" it's not common and most Germans would think it's wrong.

I think that's why ajhedges said 'similar', not 'the same' :)
Speed = "Geschwindigkeit" or "Tempo"
